Don’t call it a sub. Seriously, don’t. It’s a hero – Sal’s is pretty adamant about that. And why shouldn’t they be? The meatball hero was called the “best sandwich in all of HRM” by Halifax ReTales’ 101 Best Things to Put in Your Mouth in HRM and I’d have to agree that it’s a damn tasty sandwich…. err… “hero”.
The bread is home-made from the same dough as their stellar pizzas – oven baked with mozzarella, pizza sauce, onions, kalamata olives, and Sal’s home-made meatballs. Then it’s spread with mayo and sprinkled with seasoning. Voilà. Perfection.
